Premiership Weekend Preview October 2012

Betting Preview 28th October 2012 Chelsea vs Manchester United

This weekend we will look at one of the biggest games of the season, a top of the table clash between 1st placed Chelsea and 2nd placed Manchester United to see if we can find any betting opportunities. It won’t be easy to pick a winner between these two so lets have a look at the form and stats for both teams.

Chelsea are in great form so far this season in the Premier league, in fact are undefeated so far, only dropping points in a draw away to QPR. They are a formidable team at home winning all 4 games so far, scoring plenty and not conceding too many either, they have also scored in seven out of their eight games so far. Manchester United’s form in the league is not too shabby either winning four of the last five games and scoring in all of them.

Chelsea last five games

Queens Park Ra… 0 – 0 Chelsea
Chelsea 1 – 0 Stoke City
Arsenal 1 – 2 Chelsea
Chelsea 4 – 1 Norwich City
Tottenham Hotspur 2 – 4 Chelsea

Manchester United last five games

Manchester United 4 – 0 Wigan Athletic
Liverpool 1 – 2 Manchester United
Manchester United 2 – 3 Tottenham Hotspur
Newcastle United 0 – 3 Manchester United
Manchester United 4 – 2 Stoke City

In recent games between the two, Manchester United have had the better of the results winning four of the last five. Despite this I can see Chelsea sneaking the win this time as I think they have the stronger attacking options of the two teams. I do see both teams scoring as they have both been scoring for fun this season. So I see two betting options for this game, one a sligtly more risky backing Chelsea to win and a slighly safer bet backing the 1.5 goals market based on both teams scoring in the majority of their games, as well as both defences being a bit leaky at times.

Betting Preview 6th October 2012 Chelsea vs Norwich

This week we are going to look at the Chelsea vs Norwich game for betting opportunities. Looking at form and the stats so far this season it looks like a home banker for Chelsea. Chelsea have picked up maximum points at home this season and Norwich don’t travel well having only picked up one point on the road so far.

Below you can see the last 5 games for both teams.

Chelsea last five games

Chelsea 4 – 2 Reading
Chelsea 2 – 0 Newcastle United
QPR 0 – 0 Chelsea
Chelsea 1 – 0 Stoke City
Arsenal 1 – 2 Chelsea

Norwich last five games

Norwich City 1 – 1 QPR
Tottenham Hotspur 1 – 1 Norwich City
Norwich City 0 – 0 West Ham United
Newcastle United 1 – 0 Norwich City
Norwich City 2 – 5 Liverpool

Looking at the above this game offers plenty of value bet options. Although not the best of odds the obvious bet is to go for a Chelsea home win as it is difficult to see Norwich coming away from Stamford Bridge with anything. So that is the bet I will be picking for this game.

There is also the goal overs betting market which looks appealing and my gut feeling would be the over 2.5 goals. But recent stats do not back this up especially if you look at the 10 games above only 30% had 2.5 goals or more in and I would be expecting all the goals to be coming from Chelsea. For those reasons the 1.5 goal market seems like a safer option as a 2-0 or score line would definitely seem realistic.
